Red’s Place operates as a gastropub and restaurant nestled on N Aurora Street in the heart of Ithaca, NY. The spot cultivates a casual yet lively atmosphere where locals and visitors alike can gather for a meal that balances comfort with a touch of culinary creativity.

Expect an inviting environment that suits group outings or relaxed dinners with friends, especially for those who enjoy sharing plates — which aligns well with their selection of “plates to share” like the boom boom shrimp, a standout for its crispy ale-battered texture and a well-balanced spicy chili sauce. The menu’s flatbreads and hearty sandwiches provide varied options, with distinct flavors crafted to complement a laid-back pub setting rather than formal dining.

Red’s Place tends to draw a mixed crowd: families moving students into Cornell or Ithaca College find it a convenient celebratory stop, while local regulars appreciate the unpretentious vibe and attentive service, often noting interactions with staff that feel personalized and genuine. The space works well for an early or late lunch, dinner, or a casual night out — though it’s worth noting that kitchen hours can run late on some nights, and the team is willing to accommodate last-minute requests when possible.

While the food generally hits a high mark, occasional inconsistencies in items like grilled chicken have been observed, hinting that the gastropub is a spot more about enjoying lively company and solid flavors than precision cooking. Drinks like the Reds Mojito add to the laid-back experience, even if they stray a bit from classic interpretations.

Locally, Red’s Place fits into Ithaca’s dining scene as a hearty, approachable place where sharing a meal and unwinding after a busy day or move-in event feels natural. Visitors should come ready for a social, sometimes bustling vibe where the focus is on good food shared easily rather than fine dining formality.

Excellent food! The best in Ithaca. Ryan is the best cook in town!! All Cornell and Ithaca College families should come here and enjoy a wonderful meal after moving their loved ones into the dorms! I promise you won’t be disappointed. We will be back next week and come here at least 1 x week. I can’t wait x express how good the food is and the service is amazing. Very cute hostess also

We ended up here on the 4th, after other places were closed, or didn't have room. The Boom-Boom Shrimp was the best dish we had, with a creamy spicy chili sauce that was very tasty. The Farm salad was huge, but the chicken on top was super dry (overcooked). The chicken was also very dry on my Pesto Pesto Flatbread. The Reds Mojito didn't taste like one, but it was still an enjoyable drink. In contrast to others who have posted here, we got our food within 10 minutes of ordering!

My pregnant wife sent me out for macaroni and cheese, and I arrived very late, just as they were closing the kitchen. But they didn't disappoint me; they reopened the kitchen just for me. That made me very happy. Thanks a lot.
